Translucent Solutions
20' x 30' Acrylic Installation North View Gallery, PCC Sylvania, Portland, Oregon 2013 Working with a theme of medicine for the show Axon Somos, this piece spoke to the constant prescription medicines my mother took while I was a child. I always felt like one medicine cured one aliment, yet simultaneously causing other complications. This piece comments on the pharmaceutical companies' unspoken need to over-prescribe for economical purposes, while affecting their patiences with an overwhelming amount of translucent solutions. |
Disposable Bag Overload
60" tall brown paper bags Allied Works Gallery, Portland, Oregon 2011 This installation congested the gallery space with brown paper bags tall enough to conceal several humans. Made during the time many major cities were developing single use plastic-bag bans, most stores still provided single use recycled paper bags as an alternative. At that point, I was researching disposable products and wanted to over emphasize the weight of paper bags on the environment, when considering transportation, water treatment, and milling. No matter what the single-use product is, government should urge customers to supply their own recycled grocery bag and truly dismiss the environmental issues of single-use items. |
