Visual/Graphic/Fine  Artist/Designer/Maker

Katie Dunbar holds a Master of Fine Arts in Visual Studies from the Pacific Northwest College of Art and a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She currently teaches Graphic Design 110 at Oregon State University (Cascades) and serves as the principal graphic designer for Terranaut Beer. 

Throughout her creative journey, Katie has developed a profound appreciation for the natural wilderness, inspired by her passion for backpacking. Over the past decade, she has traversed iconic trails, including the Pacific Crest Trail, the Continental Divide in Montana and New Mexico, and the Wonderland Trail around Mt. Rainier—twice. She has also circumnavigated Mt. Hood on the Timberline Trail, completed the Wildwood Trail, and hiked hundreds of additional miles in various backcountry regions.

Katie’s artistic practice centers on illustrating her experiences and the symbols of her wilderness excursions. By reflecting on and interpreting the visual narratives of these moments, she has dedicated her work to themes of organic environments, sustainability, conservation, and the vibrant outdoor community.
